My Dear Child,

There is something on my heart today, something I pray you will carry with you for the rest of your life and your walk with God.

I was thinking about a simple clay jar sitting beside a mighty, endless river. The jar is small, fragile, and limited. The river is vast, powerful, and seemingly without end. At first glance, it feels impossible that something so small could ever hold anything from something so infinite.

But here is the mystery: The jar can receive from the river—if it stays open. This is the picture I want you to remember as you grow:

Your limitations do not limit God.

There will be moments when life feels bigger than your experience, your strength, or your understanding. You will face questions you cannot answer and situations you cannot fully explain. You will sometimes feel small—like that clay jar.
But never fear what you don’t know.
Never fear what you cannot see.
Never fear what you cannot control.
Just remain open to God.

Jeremiah 33:3 says “Call to Me and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things which you do not know.” God is not asking you to know everything. He is asking you to stay open enough for Him to teach you.

Again, in Psalm 36:9, it says “For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light.” He is Your ever-flowing fountain of life, full of knowledge, wisdom and what you need to know in your life at the moment.

My child, as you grow older, you will be tempted to rely only on what you understand, what you can reason out, or what seems logical. But your understanding is a jar. God’s wisdom is a river. Never let your jar become closed.

Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 4:7 “We have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.” You are a jar of clay—beautiful, purposeful, but limited. Yet God places His treasure, His wisdom, His strength, and His Spirit inside you. Not because you are infinite, but because He is. This is why I want you to keep your heart open, your mind open, and your life open. Only an open vessel can receive from an infinite God.

Jesus said in John 7:37, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.” So stay thirsty for God. Stay curious. Stay teachable. Stay humble enough to ask, brave enough to listen, and wise enough to follow. The Holy Spirit never forces Himself into a closed jar. He waits for openness.

So, my child: when God whispers, listen. When He corrects you, yield. When He leads you, follow. When you don’t understand, trust. When you feel small, remember that God never asked you to be infinite—only open.

There is another picture I want you to hold close: Only an open jar in the hands of an infinite God can release the fragrance of Christ. Your life can become a vessel through which God pours out love, wisdom, compassion, and strength to others. But it begins with surrender and openness. So don’t close your heart because of disappointment. Don’t close your mind because you think you already know. Don’t close your life because you fear what God may ask of you. Why? Infinity in a jar. The Infinite Endless God living and dwelling in limited finite body, mind and soul. 

Remain open. Let God fill you with what you cannot produce on your own. And remember this promise in Psalm 81:10, “Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.” Therefore, make room for God. Make room for His wisdom. Make room for His plans. Make room for the man He is shaping you to become.

My child, my prayer is that you will grow into one who is wise yet humble, strong yet surrendered, confident yet teachable, and successful without ever forgetting the One who gives you the ability to succeed. May your heart always remain an open vessel in the hands of an infinite God.
