“And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.”

Mark 1:35
One thing that stands out to me in this passage is that Jesus was never too busy for God.

If you read Mark 1:29–45, you’ll see that Jesus had an incredibly busy day. He healed Peter’s mother-in-law, ministered to crowds of people, healed the sick, and cast out demons. The day was packed with ministry. Yet the next morning, before the sun came up and before anyone else was awake, Jesus got up and found a quiet place to pray.

He made time for fellowship with the Father. That was His great moment.

That challenges me because many of us are busy too. We have work, family commitments, ministry responsibilities, bills to pay, and endless things demanding our attention. Yet Jesus shows us that no matter how busy life gets, our relationship with God must remain a priority.

In Leviticus, God instructed the priests to keep the fire burning on the altar continually. Every day they had to remove the ashes and make sure the fire never went out. As believers, we are called to be kings and priests unto God, and there is a lesson here for us.

We must keep the fire burning on our personal altar. Day and night, every moment of our days.

That means removing the ashes of distraction, worry, spiritual laziness, and the cares of this life. It means making time for prayer, worship, reading God’s Word, and simply enjoying His presence.

Jesus deliberately left the house to pray. If He had stayed, He would have been surrounded by people needing His attention. The crowds were already looking for Him. Instead, He stepped away from the noise and made Himself available to God.

Sometimes we need to do the same.

The truth is that life’s demands never end. There will always be another task to complete and another problem to solve. But God remains the one constant in our lives. We must learn to make ourselves unavailable to distractions so that we can be available to Him.

Whether it’s early in the morning, during a lunch break, or late at night, make time to fellowship with God. Make time to create sweet memories with God and His Word. Make time to build landmark moments in your daily walk with God.

Keep your altar alive. Keep your prayer life fresh. Keep the fire burning.

Flies don’t perch on hot coals. A burning altar produces passion, strength, and intimacy with God but a cold spiritual life attracts weakness and compromise.

One of the best moments in your life would be the times you were available for God, His presence, His Word and the fellowship of His Spirit.

God is still searching for those that will treasure moments with Him and spend time with Him. Will you be the one?

Thank you for reading, and may God bless you immeasurably!

Always me,

Obioma
