In the Book of Esther, the name God was never mentioned. However, we can evidently see the hand of God at work in the lives of the people of Israel and the internal affairs of the government at large. At some point, it appeared as if evil men were gaining the upper hand; nevertheless, the protection of God over His people and His sovereign power was never in question. God was still in absolute control.

Lesson: We may not completely understand everything that is happening around us; it may seem as as if the sickness or the ailment is bearing down our neck. The fact is that we cannot relinquish our trust in God’s salvation. We need to maintain our integrity and faith in God by continuing to do what we believe is right and just despite what is going on around us.

Esther risked her life to appear before the King and became a great heroine to her people. Mordecai was effectively condemned to death but he became the second highest ranking officer all over Xerxes’ empire.

Lesson: If we hold unto what we believe is right, we may be surprised to how everything will turn out in the end. The reward we receive or the answered prayers depends entirely on God. We must continue to trust God that however He rewards our faithfulness is entirely what He deems best for us. God has the power to turn every situation around, even to raise a dead man back to life. Hence, we cannot afford to give in to despair for God is still very much in control. His grace is always available for His people. When the timing is right, He gives us the victory He has already planned for us by His grace.

Shalom.
